Amy Beauchamp

is keeping up a family tradition.

Program:
General Studies

High school:
Holy Cross High School, Surrey.

Career goals:
I hope to get my teaching certificate and coach at the high school level.

About me:
My role model is my grandpa because he was very smart. He started out with nothing, got his PhD in engineering and is responsible for setting up the power grid in BC.

My favourite athletes are Alex Rios - Toronto Blue Jays, Sydney Crosby - Pittsburgh Penguins and Amare Stoudemire - Phoenix Suns.

I chose Douglas because

my dad coached here, my mom used to play here and it just seems like a nice college.

I am most looking forward to

playing basketball at a higher level, working hard and improving my game. I am also looking forward to meeting new people and getting to know them whether it is through basketball or classes.

But I'm worried about

getting lost and the homework.

A good coach is

someone who is willing to give up their time and work with you to make you a better player and a better person. It's also someone who will give you constructive criticism.

A good teacher is

someone who his patient and kind and will help you at anytime you need it. A teacher who did this for me is Mrs. Raven, one of the nicest people I have ever met. I could not imagine having gone through school, let alone life, without her. It is not just what she did for me at school by helping me with an assignment, but how she always said 'hi' to me and was happy to see me. She is not only a teacher but a family friend and I would just like to say thank you for everything she did for me.

The thing I'll miss most is

about high school are my friends and the annual BC Catholics Tournament, a tournament for Catholic schools which is very special to my school. All the students come out and cheer, hold up signs and get involved. It is so much fun to play in our packed gym when people are screaming our names and cheering as loud as possible. I was lucky enough to play in it three times, winning it the last two years. I can tell you I will be going back to cheer on my school and my sisters.
