One thing I'd tell people about College

You need to be more independent and organized than in high school. YOU are the biggest influence on your education. It's not like high school where the teachers just tell you "this is what you are going to learn."

No one ever teaches you

How to balance work, school, family and friends. That's something no one ever talks about. They never tell you about the burnout, that you need to take time for yourself. You have to remember to have fun!

The most fun I've had in a class

We had a group of home-learners come in for seven PE classes. They were all between the ages of six and 12, and we did hilarious stuff with them like playing scooter games using four-wheeled carts. I learned how to have fun again and to not be so focused on the technical aspect of teaching.

The best thing about my program is

The practical experience. Beginning in first year, BPEC students have the opportunity to experience real-life situations with fieldwork. Students get hands-on experience with a variety of fitness testing equipment during fourth-year classes. Other hands-on knowledge students gain are taping techniques, sport/fitness psychology techniques and teaching strategies and models.
