Canada medals at Americas Cup

Team Canada, including Bo Hedges, ensured Canada will be well-seeded at next year’s Wheelchair Basketball World Championships.

Douglas College Royals Wheelchair Basketball player Bo Hedges was part of the silver-medal Team Canada crew at the Americas Cup. Their solid finish means Canada will be seeded well in next year’s 12-team World Championships.

The Americas Cup competition took place at the Richmond Oval from August 24-29. It was a qualification tournament for the World Championships taking place July 2010 in Birmingham, England. The three qualifying spots went to gold-medal winner the United States, Canada and bronze-winning Mexico.

Joining Hedges from BC were athletes Ross MacDonald, Pat Anderson and Richard Peter – the four were Paralympic silver medalists in Beijing. For more information, please visit the Wheelchair Basketball Canada website.
