Personal goals:
I am a goal-driven person and have several in mind: spend more time with my husband and hope to beat him in a tennis match, and to trek the Himalayan Mountains.Favourite sports team and/or player:
My favorite athlete is Clara Hughes, the only Canadian athlete to win medals in both summer (cycling) and winter Olympics (speed skating).
Favourite way to say fit:
I run 2-3 times a week to Mundy Park or Rocky Point Park, work out in the gym, play tennis, go hiking and biking. On days that I don't have designated time to exercise, I incorporate various physical activities in my daily routine.

Most music with 130 beats per minute would pump me up.

I read, do yoga and listen to music to relax.
My must-visit website is:
The microscopy-uk.org.uk section on diatoms.
Is achieving your degree the end for you as far as education?
No, I am currently taking an Educational Research Methods course at SFU. I have been accepted to the Professional Development Program at SFU to obtain my teaching certificate and to complete my Bachelor of Education by summer of 2010. I also hope to do some research and continue with graduate studies in a few years.
What made you decide to pursue a career in sport science?
I personally enjoy sports and all sort of physical activities. I believe the engagement in sports and/or physical activities is an integral component in achieving one's overall health. I also think some of the training components in sports and physical activities can be used toward the personal growth and the development of social responsibilities.
What made you choose the Sport Science diploma program at Douglas?
I am interested in having a career related to sports and education and the Sport Science diploma program seemed to be a good fit for my goals. Also, Douglas College is close to home and the cost is lower than universities.
What was the best thing about the Sport Science diploma program?
The best things about the SPSC diploma program are the breadth of courses it offers to the students and the hands-on learning we do in addition to learning the theories.
What was the most important thing you learned during the program?
The most important thing I learned during the program is that the study of sport science is not only about the understanding of the physiology of the human body, but also includes learning of the psychological and the affective (motivation, attitude, feelings, etc.) domain of human beings.
What was the craziest moment you had in class?
In my Zoology class, I had to walk like a six-legged insect in order to understand and remember all the movement involved during locomotion.
What was the toughest part about college?
The hardest thing about college was balancing time between school work and family life, especially when my daughter asked why I was spending less time with her.
Who was your favourite instructor and why?
I think Ken Anderson is one of my favorite teachers in the Sport Science department. His exercise and physiology lectures are interesting and engaging. He has an open door policy which I often take advantage to ask questions about lab write ups or term projects. He always challenges us to further our understanding of particular concepts. He also shows interests in his students work load and often asks how our other courses are going.
What made you decide to stay at Douglas and continue your studies with the Bachelor of PE and Coaching program?
The familiarity of the instructors, the close proximity of Douglas and the cost of completion of the program were the factors that made me decide to stay at Douglas to complete the Bachelor of PE and Coaching degree.
What are you looking forward to most?
I look forward to having a full time teaching position in a secondary or a middle school so I can design a curriculum to motivate my students to be physically active and to appreciate all the living things around us.
