Registration Guide Winter 2012

As you prepare to start a new semester of Douglas College classes, it is essential to research which courses are required for your program and to be well prepared for registration - the official process of selecting your courses.  The Registration Guide is designed to help you navigate the registration process. 

NEW 

 Changes to Wait-listing:  Students will not be required to confirm their intention to remain on course wait-lists.  It is still essential to check daily for offers.  Please review the important information on wait-listing.

Important registration notices

1. Tuition payment deadlines

There are three payment deadlines for Domestic Students:
 
December 5, 2011

Full fees must be paid to avoid being deregistered from all courses and removed from all waitlists.

Please note:  Students will not be able to add or drop any courses on December 5, 6, or 7*.                          *The system reopens at 8:00 pm on December 7 for students who were not deregistered for non-payment of fees to continue to add or drop courses. 

December 14, 2011 
Full fees are due and payable to avoid deregistration of all unpaid courses added since December 7, 2011.
January 19, 2012 Full fees must be paid to avoid $50 Late Payment Penalty.  Failure to pay fees will NOT result in deregistration.
Registration and activity holds and late payment penalties will be applied to all accounts that are outstanding on January 20, 2012.


 There are four payment deadlines for International students.

November 28, 2011 Full fees must be paid to avoid being deregistered from all courses and removed from all waitlists.
December 5, 2011
Full fees must be paid to avoid being deregistered from all courses and removed from all waitlists added since November 29, 2011.  Please note:  Students will not be able to add or drop any courses on December 5 or 6.
December 14, 2011 Full fees must be paid to avoid deregistration of all courses added since December 7, 2011.
January 19, 2012 Full fees must be paid to avoid $50 Late Payment Penalty.  Failure to pay fees will NOT result in deregistration.
Registration and activity holds and late payment penalties will be applied to all accounts that are outstanding on January 20, 2012.

2. Refund procedures

From November 17 to December 4, 2011 courses dropped will be refunded at 100%. Starting December 7, 2011 if all courses are dropped, there is a $100 processing charge.

3. Late Registration (January 4 to January 17, 2012)
During Late Registration, you can add and drop courses without penalty as long as the total number of credits remains the same or increases. When more credits are dropped than added, these credits will be refunded at a rate of 43% per credit for all students. Please see the Refunds page for more detailed information.

4. Wait-list  *** NEW PROCESS EFFECTIVE FALL 2011***
Students will no longer be required to confirm their intention to remain wait-listed for courses.  Registration Offers will be sent at 1230 Monday to Thursday from November 17 to December22, 2011.  No offers are sent on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays during this period.  During Late Registration, waitlist offers will be sent by faculty at 1230 Monday to Saturday from Wednesday, January 4 to Tuesday, January 17, 2012.  There have been significant changes to the waitlisting process please review the detailed waitlist information by clicking on the Waitlist tab on the left hand menu.

5. myDouglas

The Registrar's Office will be sending helpful registration and other College related information to students through myDouglas. Please check your myDouglas email account on a regular basis for these important notices.

6. System Closures                                                                                                                                                                    The registration system will be closed each evening from 1159 to 0455 hours for maintenance.  You will not be able to access the registration system during this period.

The Douglas College Calendar
The Douglas College Calendar is your first source for information. The official version of the Calendar is the online version. This is the most current version. The Calendar describes all College programs, which courses you must take within each program, prerequisites and the length of each course and program. It also describes the number of credits per course and semesters in which the course is usually offered.

University Transfer
Before registering in university transfer courses, it is always advisable to double-check with the universities you want to attend that the transfer information you have is accurate. For up-to-date transfer information, check the BC Transfer Guide.
