Important Information for Developmental Studies Students
Developmental Studies (DVST) courses are offered in Mathematics and Reading & Writing. All DVST courses have prerequisites and in order to be placed correctly in these courses, you must be assessed before registration or have written permission from a DVST instructor. All prerequisites must be met at the time of registration. A secondary school transcript is not considered a prerequisite for DVST courses.
The assessment consists of written assessments and an interview. Information about Developmental Studies courses is available at the assessment sessions. To make an appointment, please call Developmental Studies at either the New Westminster Campus 604-527-5463 or the David Lam Campus in Coquitlam 604-777-6196. DVST students will be able to register for DVST courses in person or on-line by using the Registration System. All other courses must be added or dropped using the Registration System only.
DVST note:
All DVST course registrations will be tuition-free. International students will be charged regular international fees.
Student Union fees and a Registration and Services fee must be paid for courses at the 0300 and 0400 levels whether or not you have graduated from high school. If these fees are not paid, you will be deregistered from all your courses according to regular fee payment deadlines.
**EFFECTIVE WINTER 2008 SEMESTER: ALL DVST courses will be tuition free with only DVST 0300 and 0400 level courses being charged Student Union fees and a Registration and Services fee. If these fees are not paid you will be deregistered from all your courses according to the regular fee payment deadlines. International students will be charged regular international fees.**

To register in person for DVST courses, you will need to:
1. Go to Room 4200 at New Westminster or Room B2002 at the David Lam Campus where Departmental Assistants will help you through the registration process.2. If you are a new student, bring your DVST assessment result.
3. You may register only on or after the date and time you have been assigned. Please check the Registration System for your date and time.
4. If the DVST course you want is full, your name will be placed on the wait-list if room is available. It is very important you check your DVST wait-list status to see how often you need to check. Read all details of the wait-list process carefully. If you are unclear about the waitlist process please contact the Departmental Assistants at either campus.
Important Information for EASL Students
Students who are taking EASL (English as a Second Language) courses at the 0100 or 0200 level may register using the Registration System or in person at the Registrar's Office. All other EASL courses must be added or dropped using the Registration System only.
1. If you choose to register in person, before you go to the Registrar's Office you must fill out a Course Add Form with the courses you want to take. This form is available at the EASL office in room 4200 (New Westminster Campus) and room B2002 (David Lam Campus.) You do not need an instructor to sign this form.
2. You must also take your EASL Assessment Result Sheet or your current enrolment sheet with you to the Registrar's Office.
3. You may register in person on the date and time indicated on the Registration system, or any time after your registration date. You can only register if there is space available.
4. If you need extra assistance with your registration, you should go to the EASL office: room 4200 at the New Westminster Campus or room B2002 at the David Lam Campus. You can also telephone the EASL office: 604-527-5463 (New Westminster) and 604-777-6196 (David Lam Campus in Coquitlam).
5. If the course is full, you may choose to add your name to the on-line wait-list. Please read all the details for the on-line wait-list very carefully. (for example, it is very important for you to check your wait-list status often.)
