Important Dates and Deadlines

Winter 2010 Important Dates to Remember

November 12 to 27
Priority Registration for Winter 2010
November 28 to
December 6
Registration continues to be open for all students to continue adding and dropping courses.
November 30 ABESAP applications received by this date will be processed before the fee payment deadline. If you apply later, you will need to pay the fees yourself. When your application is processed, you may receive a refund of fees for your eligible courses. The final deadline for ABESAP applications is January 29, 2010.
November 30
International Students - Fees due and payable by 1600 hours.
December 18 to 22
Grades for Fall semester courses are received.

Students currently enrolled in a Fall semester course that is a prerequisite may be deregistered from the subsequent course in the Winter semester if the prerequisite is not completed successfully.
December 6
Last day to drop a course and receive 100 % refund (no processing fee)
December 7 All fees due and payable by 1600 hours to avoid deregistration (cancellation of registration of all courses). Fee deferrals (PDF)  are due by 1600 hours to avoid deregistration.
December 7 and 8 Registration and waitlisting system are closed (except for fee payments) to process fee payments and to deregister students who have not paid full fees or submitted a Fee Deferral. Students who have outstanding fees will be dropped from all courses and waitlists.
December 9 Registration System opens at 2000 hours for students who were not deregistered for non-payment of fees to continue to add and drop courses.
December 10 Registration System opens at 1600 hours for students who were deregistered for non-payment of fees to continue to add and drop courses.

Additional fee assessments, as a result of course adds or drops during this period, are due and payable at the time of registration.
December 16 Last day to withdraw completely and receive a 50 % refund for new international students.
December 17
All fees are due and payable to avoid deregistration of all unpaid courses.
December 24, 2009 to January 3, 2010
College Closed
January 3
Last day to drop a course and receive a 100 % refund. If all courses are dropped there is a $100 processing charge.
January 3 Check the Registration System to determine your position on the wait-list. If you are on the waitlist you must attend the first class.
January 4 First day of the semester.
January 4 to 9 Attendance in class - students who miss their first class and do not notify their instructors prior to the scheduled start of the second class may have their seat in that course given to another student.  See Attendance statement for more information.
January 4 to 17 During Late Registration, the Registration System is open for you to:
  • register in courses with available seats
  • register in a course in which the instructor has accepted you from the wait-list
  • add your name to the wait-list for courses
  • drop a course with a 43% per credit refund
  • pay for any newly added courses
January 15
Last day to change your status from credit to audit in person using an Add Course form.
January 17
Last day to drop a course on the Registration System and no "W" will appear on your permanent student record. Last day to withdraw and receive a 43% per credit refund.
January 18 Full fees must be paid to avoid late payment penalties and a registration hold on your account.
January 20   
Last day to apply for bursaries and awards for Winter 2010 Semester.
January 29
Last day to apply for ABESAP Funding for Winter 2010.
January 29 Last day to opt-in to Medical/Dental Plan.
February 1 Deadline to apply for transfer credit or update high school grades for Summer 2010 semester.
February 15 - 27
Classes cancelled - Winter Olympics
March 1 to 6 Mid-semester. Students may obtain mid-semester standing from instructors during this week in order to make decisions about dropping courses by the deadline below.
March 5 Deadline for students placed on academic probation from the Fall semester to meet with a Counsellor. Students who do not meet with a Counsellor by this date will be unable to access their records or register for future semesters.
March 14 Last day to withdraw from a course for the semester (for a 14-week course - shorter courses are pro-rated.) All course drops must be done on the Registration System. Students will receive a "W" on their permanent record.
March 25 to April 7   
Priority Registration for Summer 2010
April 2
College Closed - Good Friday.  Saturday classes are cancelled
April 5  
College Closed - Easter Monday
April 17
Last day of classes.
April 19 to 24
Examination period.
April 23 to 28
Grades for Winter semester courses are received.
