About Centre for Academic and Faculty Development (CAFD)

 In keeping with the College Academic Plan focus on learning and high quality education, the Centre  provides leadership and support through the integration and coordination of faculty professional development, research and scholarly activity and program review and renewal. (CAFD Strategic Directions 2009-2012)

• We support teaching excellence with the ultimate goal of engaging students in vital learning
• We provide professional development for faculty that assists them to adapt to changes in curriculum, education technology, teaching pedagogy and student experience 
• We support faculty engagement in research activities and other forms of scholarship, as an important contributor to teaching excellence and student learning (Research and Scholarly Activity Strategic Plan 2009-2012)
• We implement a process of continuous program review and renewal that will ensure program quality, relevancy and a high level of student engagement
  Our work is rooted in priorities outlined in the College Academic Plan and is responsive to the needs of Douglas College faculty.
