Suggestions
Your suggestions about faculty development are welcome! This year, we have had many excellent suggestions from College employees:
- August sessions for new faculty on College programs and services
- A Making Groups Work in Your Classroom series
- Workshops with Aboriginal elders on welcoming and supporting Aboriginal students
- Open discussions on students' use of technology during class
- A reading circle on The Reflective Practitioner, by Donald Schon
- A Mini-Carnegie Scholars series with Richard Gale on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
- A Best Lessons series, where faculty teach and then discuss with their colleagues a truncated version of one of their best lessons
- Workshops in computer labs on technologies that can enhance classroom instruction
- Sessions on getting started with hybrid and online course development
- Sessions related to new technologies that lend themselves to post-secondary instruction.
