Financial Matters

In order to receive the money awarded to you for project expenses, you will need to be familiar with the Research and Scholarly Activity Financial Procedures.

Hiring a Student Research Assistant

Begin by reading the instructions related to How to Hire Student Assistants to Help with Research.  Salary and other conditions of employment for Student Research Assistants are detailed in a Letter of Understanding in the BCGEU collective agreement.  For examples of duties a student assistant may perform, please read the Typical Duties of Student Researchers.  Once you have selected an appropriate student to do the work, fill out a P40 form (available from Lizette Lofranco-Aba, Employee Relations or Laura Sandve, Centre for Academic and Faculty Development) and submit it to Lizette Lofranco-Aba  with a cc to Colleen Romano, Student Employment Services and to the Research and Scholarly Activity Coordinator.  If the student you wish to hire will need additional printing privileges, they will need to submit a CEIT Form W09 to obtain these.
