Behavioural Interventionist Citation, Classroom and Community Support Courses

These courses are only for those students enrolled in the Behavioural Intervention Citation within the Classroom and Community Support Department. This restriction may be waived on an individual basis by the classroom instructor or program coordinator. BI Citation students ar also required to complete CCSD 1140, CCSD 1150 and CCSD 2334.

Continuing Education: Behavioural Interventionist Foundations

The goal of this course is to provide you with an introduction to the key concepts and skills related to the effective implementation of intensive behavioural intervention. This course will not be focused on any one particular intervention practice but rather focus on a range of empirically supported approaches.

BHIN 1230: The Young Child with Autism (1.5 credits)

This course introduces students to developmental principles and applied strategies that support the learning of a young child who has Autism Spectrum Disorder (including Autism, Asperger Syndrome, Rett Syndrome, Childhood Disintegrative Disorder and Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified).

BHIN 1240: Behaviour Intervention Practicum (3 credits)

This applied course provides opportunities for students to practice behaviour intervention skills in selected sites under supervision. Students will integrate and reflect upon their educational, personal, and professional experiences in practicum and seminar.

Prerequisites: CCSD 1140, CCSD 1150, CCSD 2334, and BHIN 1230, BHIN 1256 is a co-requisite

Practicum hours: 100

BHIN 1256: Supporting Positive Behaviour and Communication (3 credits)

This citation course introduces students to principles and applied strategies in positive behaviour support and augmentative and alternative communication.

Prerequisites: None
