These courses are only for those students enrolled in the Basic Occupational Education program.
BOCE 0110 Food Services I (16 credits)
This course provides special needs students with skills which enable them to obtain entry-level jobs in the food services trade and/or pursue further training in the field. Individualized training in a working cafeteria and classroom setting provides students with competitive job skills in dishwashing, pot-scrubbing, bussing and kitchen maintenance. Basic food preparation skills may be offered as work experience when appropriate.
Prerequisite: Acceptance into BOE Food Service Program

BOCE 0111 Food Services I Practicum (6 credits)
This course provides the opportunity for the Basic Occupational Education student to gain realistic work experience in dishwashing, pot scrubbing, bussing, and kitchen maintenance through participation in a community cafeteria/restaurant setting. Students may have an opportunity to gain some experience in basic food preparation. Students attend a weekly seminar to share experiences and feelings pertinent to the practicum.

BOCE 0120 Electronic & General Assembly I (16 credits)
This course provides special needs students with skills which enable them to obtain entry-level jobs in electronics and other manufacturing industries. Individualized training in laboratory and classroom settings provides students with essential knowledge and skills in generic areas, including communications, health and safety, and general assembly, in addition to specific electronics areas, such as printed circuit board assembly and soldering.
Prerequisite: Acceptance into BOE Electronic Assembly Program

BOCE 0121 Electronic & General Assembly I - Practicum (6 credits)
This course allows Electronic & General Assembly students to gain realistic work experience through practicum participation in community manufacturing settings. Students may attend a weekly seminar to integrate practicum experiences with classroom learning.

BOCE 0130 Basic Occupational Education Program - Retail and Business Services Option (16 credits)
(formerly BOCE 130)
The Basic Occupational Education Program, Retail and Business Services Option prepares students with barriers to employment for entry-level positions in the retail and business sector. Individualized training in both classroom and laboratory settings provides students with the essential knowledge and skills to obtain employment in a variety of work environments including retail, wholesale, warehouse and business worksites.
Prerequisites: Enrollment in the BOCE Program and functional literacy and math skills relevant to the vocational field.

BOCE 0131 Basic Occupational Education Program - Retail and Business Services Practicum (6 credits)
(formerly BOCE 131)
Upon completion of on-campus classroom/lab training, students gain work experience through participation in employer work site placements. Practicum sites are selected to match student training needs and provide further training opportunities to participants in a realistic retail and/or business environment. Companies hosting practicums are located throughout the Lower Mainland.

BOCE 0210 Food Services II (16 credits)
This second level course is designed for former students or individuals with previous work experience in food services. The course is intended to assist students in upgrading their skills to the level of competency required in the industry. The course is individualized, self-paced and may involve both laboratory and classroom experiences.

This second level practicum course is designed for former students or individuals with significant work experience in food services. It is individualized and self-paced, and may involve both laboratory and classroom experiences. The course is intended to assist students in upgrading their skills to a level of competency through participation in a community cafeteria/restaurant setting.

This second level course is designed for former Basic Occupational Education students or individuals with significant work experience in electronic and general assembly. The course is intended to assist students in upgrading their skills for re-entry into electronics and general assembly or related industries. The course is individualized, self-paced and may involve both laboratory and classroom experiences.

This course is designed for former BOE students or individuals with significant work experience in the retail and business sector. The course is individualized, self-paced and provides hands-on training primarily in a laboratory setting.
BOCE 0231 Basic Occupational Education Program - Retail and Business Service Practicum (6 credits)

This course is designed for former BOE students or individuals with significant work experience in the retail and business sector. The intent of this course is to assist students in upgrading their skills to the level of competency required in the industry. Students gain realistic work experience in basic retail/business skills through practicum participation in a community business setting.
Prerequisites: Enrollment in Basic Occupational Education Program and BOCE 130, 131 & 230 or equivalent and Functional Literacy/Math Skills Relevant to the Industry
