Computing Science and Information Systems Diploma (with Double Specialty)

The Computing Science and Information Systems Department’s two-year Diploma (with Double Specialty) program prepares students for a career in the computer industry in two chosen areas. This two-year program combines business applications, system and networking concepts and programming languages.

The CSIS Diploma (with Double Specialty) program provides students with a broad business base and advanced level skills in two of the main streams of Information Technology. By the right choice of specialties, this diploma allows students to achieve the goal of maximizing their opportunities for being employed in a high demand field and university transfer credits. Students can choose to pursue a diploma with double specialty by completing a total of 69 credits in the Diploma program. Along with the 60 credits in a diploma with specialty, a student will take 9 more credits (3 courses) from a second specialty area. Students who wish to complete the double specialty program in a two-year period are advised to complete at least 9 credits (usually non-CSIS core courses) in the summer semester between first year and second year. Students are highly recommended to plan their course schedules well in order to complete this diploma.

By choosing the appropriate courses, students may ladder into the appropriate degree programs offered by other educational institutions.

The Computing Science and Information Systems (CSIS) Program is subject to revision. Please contact the Chair of the CSIS Department at 604-527-5448 for details.
