Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration
The Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration offers citation, certificate, diploma, university-transfer and degree programs. The programs are designed to serve the needs of full-time students as well as adult part-time evening students who are actively engaged in the professional and business communities.
Business diploma programs require completion of 60 credits of specified coursework. The programs provide an introduction to the environment, practices, and underlying principles of business with emphasis on the development of specific job skills. These programs integrate theory and practice. The Bachelor of Business Administration degree requires completion of 121.5 credits of specified coursework.
Office Administration programs provide students with a sound foundation of business skills and opportunities to enter careers in general and specialized areas of office administration.
Co-operative Education Option
Students may be eligible for a Co-operative Education designation. Co-operative Education involves
alternating full-time academic and work terms. Work experience obtained during Co-operative work
placements may be applied toward the experiential requirement for the CGA and CMA designations.

Continuing Professional Education
The Continuing Professional Education department is working
with the business community to offer professional designation and career-track certificate programs,
licensing and exam preparation courses and business and management training courses. Courses are scheduled

Career/Further Educational Opportunities
Students who wish to do their lower level requirements at Douglas College before proceeding to university should register in the Commerce and Business Administration Diploma Program. Block transfer arrangements do exist with a number of universities and university colleges with regard to the other diplomas offered by the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration. Please consult with an Academic Advisor for further information.

Prerequisite Compliance
Students who are requesting transfer credit from other institutions or submitting high school transcripts from outside of BC to satisfy prerequisite compliance are required to apply and submit those documents no later than three months in advance of the intake.
The Business Administration Programs include a number of courses with a prerequisite of Principles of Mathematics 11 or an equivalent. Students are encouraged to complete this Math 11 before starting these programs. English 12 with a minimum grade of "C" is a prerequisite requirement for many courses in the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration. Students are also encouraged to make an appointment with the respective Chair or the Business Coordinator to discuss program planning and receive curriculum advice. Closed enrolment programs (Computer Information Systems, Hotel and Restaurant Management and Office Administration) usually begin in September for full-time students. It is advisable to apply as early as possible.

Free information sessions for most programs are held throughout the year.
Note: To complete the two-year programs in four semesters (excluding the summer), it is necessary to commence the programs in September. Many students, due to work or other commitments, choose to complete the programs over more than four semesters, attending on a part-time basis.
