Our programs combine a skilled and specialized faculty and staff, an excellent curricula and rich clinical learning experience. These result in graduates who are job ready and sought after by employers. Our continuing education programs and courses offer a wide range of opportunities for individuals to enhance their professional and personal knowledge and skill base.

Perinatal Program
Prenatal Classes
Our mandate is to ensure childbearing families obtain the most current, evidence-based information and education to help ensure health and wellness as they prepare for pregnancy, childbirth and early parenting. We work closely with our Advisory Board made up of health and education professionals and health region representatives to ensure content and community information is current and relative.
The curriculum has been developed in conjunction with content experts and uses adult education principles and promotes individual's responsibility for learning. The Douglas College curriculum is available for purchase and is used throughout BC and Canada.
Classes are offered six days a week in 15 different locations in the Greater Vancouver, Lower Mainland, Whistler and Squamish areas. The prenatal series consists of six two-hour classes and a reunion class. Prenatal-In-A-Day is 6.5 hours.

The Douglas College Perinatal Program is recognized as a leader in perinatal education and, as such, we are committed to providing high-quality educational opportunities for those working or planning to work in the perinatal field. Our courses are regularly revised and updated to help ensure the most current, evidence-based information is made available to participants.

Health Courses, Programs and Customized Training
Looking for a career change to update your knowledge and skills in a health care field or to acquire a credential demanded by an employer? Health courses, programs and customized training are designed to meet learning needs identified by professionals, paraprofessionals, health care workers and employers. Many of our courses and programs are offered on a part-time basis allowing you to work while you learn. We have an excellent team of instructors with expertise in their subject areas and the skills to help adult learners succeed. Certificate programs are a cluster of courses with learning outcomes and evaluative components. A minimum grade of 60 percent is required in each course. Customized Training
We will work with you to design a course, workshop, or program that addresses the specific learning needs of people in your agency or organization. You identify the learning needs, training hours, and employees and we will design a learning event to meet the needs of your employees. Courses with evaluative components are eligible for a Douglas College course certificate. Certificates of Attendance may also be issued.
