Marketing
The Marketing Department offers full-time and part-time programs leading to both employment in the field of marketing and further education. It offers a diploma program that can be completed in two years, and a certificate program that can be completed in one year. The certificate is also available to students in other diploma programs who complete the MARK certificate requirements. A one-year post-degree diploma program in Marketing is also offered for students who have a recognized degree in a field other than marketing. The Marketing Department also offers a one-year Post Degree Diploma in Sales for students who wish to undertake intensive, specialized training in Sales.

All courses are offered at the New Westminster Campus and many of the courses are offered at the David Lam Campus.

Admission
The College admits students on a first-qualified, first-admitted basis whereby students must satisfy all admissions criteria to establish eligibility and are then offered places by date of eligibility, except in programs that use selective admissions processes that rank order qualified applicants.
Prerequisite Compliance
Students who are requesting transfer credit from other institutions or submitting high school transcripts from outside of BC to satisfy prerequisite compliance are required to apply and submit those documents no later than three months in advance of the intake.

Marketing Certificate
The Marketing Certificate Program is intended for part-time students, mature students or students in other programs. Students may select courses in the program for which course prerequisites have been met.
Career/Further Educational Opportunities
Employment opportunities in marketing and sales, especially in the current economic climate, are numerous and wide ranging. Most graduates find entry-level marketing-related positions in a variety of businesses. For graduates already employed, the knowledge gained from the courses in the program should help them perform better in their jobs and open the way for them to advance to management positions. Some of the courses in the program are transferable to university.

Note: Principles of Math 11 or Foundations of Math 11 or equivalent is a prerequisite to many courses offered by the Faculty of Commerce and Business. Therefore it is strongly recommended that you check each individual course prerequisite and ensure that you have completed this Mathematics requirement prior to registration. Failure to comply with prerequisite requirements could result in course deregistration.

This is a two-semester program (30 credits) that may be taken on a part-time basis. It can be completed in one year.

Marketing Diploma
Sales and marketing are important in the modern economy. The Marketing Diploma Program is designed to prepare students for a career in this area. Teaching techniques emphasize practical marketing skills with a blend of lectures, case studies, films and simulated business-world exercises. The Marketing Diploma Program appeals to students with energy and ambition. Well-developed communication skills are essential. Students who successfully complete the program gain a solid general business education, with specific job skills in selling, advertising, marketing research and management.
Career/Further Educational Opportunities
Employment opportunities in marketing and sales, especially in the current economic climate, are numerous and wide-ranging. New international career opportunities for marketers are emerging as British Columbia becomes linked with Pacific Rim countries. Most graduates find entry-level management trainee positions in retailing, financial marketing, or industrial sales. Because marketing plays such a central role in business success, advancement to middle and senior management is a realistic goal for students who apply themselves in these positions.

Co-operative Education Option
