Marketing
The Marketing Department offers full-time and part-time programs leading to both employment in the field of marketing and further education. It offers a diploma program that can be completed in two years, a certificate program that can be completed in one year and a flexible citation program that can be completed part-time. The certificate and citation are also available to students in other diploma programs who complete the MARK certificate and citation requirements. A one year post degree diploma program in marketing is also offered for students who have a recognized degree in a field other than marketing.

Students who are requesting transfer credit from other institutions or submitting high school transcripts from outside of BC to satisfy prerequisite compliance are required to apply and submit those documents no later than three months in advance of the intake.

Marketing Management Citation
The Marketing Management Citation Program is a flexible five-course program specifically targeted to people currently employed in the business field who want to acquire or update specific marketing job skills. However, the program is open to all who wish to pursue this credential. Students may select courses in the program for which course prerequisites have been met. Alternatively, mature students able to demonstrate competency in communications, math and computers may qualify for a waiver of prerequisites.
Career/Further Educational Opportunities
Employment opportunities in marketing and sales, especially in the current economic climate are numerous and wide ranging. Most graduates find entry-level marketing related positions in a variety of businesses. For graduates already employed, the knowledge gained from the courses in the program should help them perform better in their jobs and open the way for them to advance to management positions. Some of the courses in the program are transferable to university.

Program Duration
This flexible 15-credit program may be taken on a part-time basis. It can be completed in one year.

Marketing Management Diploma Program
Sales and marketing are important in the modern economy. The Marketing Management Program is designed to prepare students for a career in this area. Teaching techniques emphasize practical marketing skills with a blend of lectures, case studies, films and simulated business-world exercises. The Marketing Management Program appeals to students with energy and ambition. Well-developed communication skills are essential. Students who successfully complete the program gain a solid general business education, with specific job skills in selling, advertising, marketing research and management.
Career/Further Educational Opportunities
Employment opportunities in marketing and sales, especially in the current economic climate, are numerous and wide-ranging. New international career opportunities for marketers are emerging as British Columbia becomes linked with Pacific Rim countries. Most graduates find entry-level management trainee positions in retailing, financial marketing, or industrial sales. Because marketing plays such a central role in business success, advancement to middle and senior management is a realistic goal for students who apply themselves in these positions.

Post Degree Diploma Program in Marketing
Many graduates need business skills to facilitate career advancement. This Post Degree Diploma Program in Marketing offers a one year concentration in marketing, allowing students to build on prior education and experience and to broaden their skills base. It is designed to assist in career progression by improving job readiness, offering an exposure to an alternative specialization, and preparation for future transition into management. Teaching techniques emphasize practical marketing skills with a blend of lectures, case studies, and group work on marketing related projects in the business community. An optional semester of Cooperative Education is available and is recommended. This Program appeals to motivated graduates with energy and ambition. Well-developed communication skills are essential. Students who successfully complete the program benefit from enhanced professional skills, exposure to the Canadian marketing industry and hands-on marketing related experience in the local business community.

Admission Requirements
Admission requirements are as follows: Applicants must have an undergraduate degree (Bachelor level) from a recognized post secondary institution in Canada, or any English speaking country in a subject other than marketing. Applicants with an undergraduate degree (Bachelor level) from a non English speaking country will be required to meet the Douglas College English language proficiency requirement of English 12 with a minimum grade of "C" or one of the acceptable substitutions.
Program Duration
This is a one-year, 30-credit program with an optional 9 credits in Cooperative Education. In order to complete the program in three consecutive semesters (including the summer), it is necessary to begin in September. Students can choose to take longer, over more than three semesters, to complete the program. This program may also be taken on a part-time basis.
