Intake Date/Application Deadlines

The BPEC degree has an annual intake in the Fall semester. Application deadline is February 28.

Admissions Criteria

The Sport Science department uses a preferential admissions procedure. Admission to the 2nd year Bachelor of Physical Education and Coaching program SECONDARY OPTION is contingent upon:

  1. Availability of seats; and
  2. All 1st year BPEC - secondary stream entrance requirements; and
  3. Completion of a min. of 30 undergraduate credits with a minimum GPA of 2.33, including:
  4. a) 9 Sport Science or equivalent credits; and
    b) Biology 1109 and 1209 or equivalent; and
    c) Chemistry 12 or Chemistry 1108 or equivalent; and
  5. Submission of two reference letters; and
  6. Submission of a medical declaration form indicating a satisfactory level of physical and emotional health; and
  7. Applicant ranking as determined by a process of preferential admission based on the criteria described below; and
  8. When offered a seat in the program submission of a Criminal Record Search (CRS) is required. Any CRS with a notation of record will be reviewed by the Registrar's Office

Notes on recommended courses and entering grades:

1. ENGL 1130 is a Graduation requirement of the program, therefore students who do not have at least a "B" grade in English 12 will be required to write the Douglas College Writing Assessment to become eligible to register in ENGL 1130.

Note: Full-time applicants only - When offered a seat in the program must pay a non-refundable, non-transferable $350 tuition deposit.

Admission Criteria used in preferential ranking:

The preferential admission process will assign scores to the following admission criteria:

  1. The two admission reference letters from coaches, PE teachers or community leaders verifying one season of sport experience and character reference; and
  2. Cumulative GPA

Following this review applicants are ranked according to their total score. Applicants with the same total score will be offered seats based on their date of application.
