Student Success
Douglas College offers a variety of other Student Success courses. Student Success courses are designed to help ease the transition into post-secondary education. Students will learn a variety of strategies for developing the reading, study and writing skills they will need at the college level.
STSU 1100 (3 credits): This course is designed to help students become more independent learners so they can make the most of their educational opportunities. The course will expose students to the numerous resources and services available at Douglas College. Students will learn how to enhance their current study skills toward developing a foundation for life-long learning and career development.

STSU 1110 (1.5 credits): A writing adjunct course for students who have gained provisional entry into the integrated curriculum in Child, Family and Community Studies. Enrolment in this course is limited to students who receive special permission.

STSU 1115 (1.5 credits): This half-semester course emphasizes improvement of reading comprehension and rate. Skills introduced include previewing, skimming, scanning, information analysis, critical reading skills and flexibility of reading rate. Students are encouraged to develop skills in special study/interest areas (academic, business, technical).

STSU 1120 (1.5 credits): This is a half-semester course in which study skills are demonstrated: listening skills, exam preparation, taking lecture and text notes, time utilization, concentration and remembering, information analysis, general approaches to study, study techniques and specific subjects and the writing of themes and course papers.

Prerequisite Compliance
Students who are requesting transfer credit from other institutions or submitting high school transcripts from outside of BC to satisfy prerequisite compliance are required to apply and submit those documents no later than three months in advance of the intake.
