PINs & Passwords: What's the difference?

Your PIN (personal identification number) is the current personal identification number that you use on the College Registration system.

Your Personal Identification Number (PIN) is the default number issued to you by the Registrar's Office. It is your date of birth (ddmmyy format).

If you change your PIN, take care to remember what it is because you will need it for all transactions with the College, such as registration, withdrawal from courses, or e-payment.

What else can I use my PIN for?

Your PIN is also the temporary password you use when setting up your account on the Novell network. When you first log into the Novell network, you will use your PIN as a password. You will immediately be asked to change this temporary password. Changing your temporary password does not change your PIN.

You will use your password only to access your Novell network account after the account has been set up. You will also use it to access the Internet.

I set up my account, and I have used the network, but now I can't log in. Why?

The most likely reason is that you are already logged into the network on another computer. You can be logged into the network on one computer only.

Why is it important to log out when I've finished?

If you do not log out at the end of your session, the next person who uses the same computer will be able to use (or abuse) your account and any work you have temporarily saved to the computer's hard drive.  And, of course, if you are logged in on one computer, you will not be able to log into the network on any other computer at the College. As a student it is your responsibility to protect your page limits. Pages are not reimbursed under any circumstances.
