Human Rights, Copyright, Teaching, Learning, Health and Safety: Summer PD in Abundance at Douglas Read the summer employee development program at our institution and you will conclude that here, summer begins in late April and carries through to the first week of September. This year, employees will find sessions on a broad diversity of topics, including human rights, workplace bullying, copyright, intellectual property, healthy eating, healthy aging and on-request technology training. The plentiful teaching and learning sessions reflect current themes in the strategic planning process: Learning technologies, internationalization, aboriginal initiatives, learner pathways, and research and scholarly activity. Also this year, the Douglas College Faculty Association collaborates with the Centre for Academic and Faculty Development to co-sponsor two PD sessions on April 28, the afternoon of the DCFA Annual General Meeting. What accounts for our diverse employee development program? Six different but interconnected planning groups develop professional development and training programs for the College employee group as a whole, as well as PD that is targeted toward specific groups. Together, these PD groups form the Employee Development Coordinating Committee. The diagram below outlines the current categories of, and sponsoring groups behind, Employee Development at the College. |
