Prairie Rain

by Sara Yuristy

In this drought
I wait for love
To rain down on me.

Mornings
Are arid and empty
So I lie here
Thirsty and impatient

Waiting . . .

For the wetness of your tongue
To quench my thirst

For your hands
To run over my parched skin
Like a waterfall

For your kisses
To trickle down
Like Vancouver rain.

Please

Revive me

Save me

A dry prairie landscape.
