Rainstorm

by Bianca Pyle

Lakeside thoughts
          and restful sleeping —
Provokes subconscious
Retreat for healing

Raindrops knocking
          on the door
Serene daydreams
While thunder roars

Thoughts are loud,
          muted at times
Head is level —
This nightmare, fine

Lightening bolts
          I do not fear
Family’s close
Nature near

Tasting calmness
          on outstretched tongue
Natural flavour
Outdoes none

Tin roof rapping —
          clouds are full
Drops are red
Red like bull

Charging into
           what has been
My crimson blanket
Before unseen

Mind is clearing —
          new rain gloss
Water lapping
Drops emboss

Memory of waking dreams —
          Peaceful needing
Peaceful me.
