LooseLeaf is an online collection of work by current and past participants in the Print Futures Program at Douglas College. To familiarize yourself with the type of work we feature, please read through the articles on this site. Please read the following guidelines carefully before submitting work to us.
- We accept work from current, as well as past Print Futures students; however, priority will be given to current students.
- We are looking for compelling and inspired pieces, in any genre, that highlight the four key aspects of the Print Futures Program — research, writing, editing, and design. We will also accept artwork and photos that enhance the written submissions.
- We will accept submissions based on student assignments if they have been revised and reworked.
- We will accept book or manuscript excerpts to a maximum of 1500 words. Do not submit entire books or manuscripts.
- We will accept simultaneously/previously published submissions.
- Depending on the genre, the word count should range between 200 and 1500. Word count guidelines are not meant to constrain writing, although we do reserve the right to edit your work.
- You may submit up to three items per issue.
- If your item is selected for publication, LooseLeaf will include a brief bio (limited to three sentences), and should you request, your e-mail and a link to your home page. Please provide these details with your submission if you wish to have them included.
- Authors/photographers/artists will not be paid for their submissions.
- Submissions can be e-mailed to l_leaf_2005@yahoo.ca with the word "SUBMISSION" in the subject line. Written submissions will be accepted only in the form of Word (.doc) attachments; work must be double-spaced with no indentation. Your name should not appear on any part of your work except on the e-mail accompanying your submission.
- If submitting photos or artwork, please note that we accept soft-copy images only. Please set your scanner or your digital camera to ensure the following criteria are met: no smaller than 3"; 150 dpi or greater; .eps, .jpeg, or .tiff format.
- The author must provide any reference sources used, and is responsible for ensuring the factual accuracy of the material.
- Queries are not necessary but are appreciated. Send queries to the editors.
