Oct 1 - Enrolment at Douglas hits new record
Enrolment at Douglas College has hit an all-time high.
This fall more than 10,000 students – up five percent from last year – walked through the doors at the New Westminster and David Lam campuses.
"The increase in students indicates changing educational needs," said Scott McAlpine, President of Douglas College. "Getting an education is no longer something you do once in your life. As more and more people return to school to upgrade their skills and knowledge, education is becoming a lifelong process."
This is the first time enrolment at the college has surpassed the 10,000 mark. The previous record for enrolment was 9,825, reached in Fall 2002.
"Our excellent instructors and small class sizes ensure that students are getting the best education possible," said McAlpine. "It comes as no surprise that more students are coming to Douglas."
Douglas College is one of the largest colleges in British Columbia, providing a variety of bachelor's degrees, university transfer, career and developmental programs for over 20,000 students each year.
