Douglas College Torch Bearer Celebrations
On February 9, Douglas College's Olympic torch bearer Anna Solnickova will carry the torch close by the New Westminster Campus as part of its route through the city. In celebration of this once-in-a-lifetime event, the college is hosting a day of celebration and activity that is open to the entire Douglas community:
Tuesday, February 9
Colour Douglas Red Day (New West Campus)
Wear red in support of Team Canada as you take part in the day's events:
| 11:00 am | Douglas College torch rally The unofficial Douglas College torch will make its rounds of the college, gathering up supporters from all areas. Follow the torch to the concourse to join other supporters and sign the Douglas College Olympic banner! |
| 11:30am | Olympic banner signing Leave your own lasting impression on the Olympics and show your support for Team Canada by signing the Douglas College Olympic banner in the concourse (David Lam signing is on Feb 11). The completed banner will be sent off to the Olympic Village for Team Canada! |
| 12:00pm | Travel to Agnes Street and 4th Street Supporters will leave the concourse as a group and travel to Agnes St. to prepare to cheer on Anna as she passes by with the Olympic torch. |
| 12:20pm | Cheer on Anna as she carries the torch! Anna is walking her segment of the route starting at 3rd Street and Royal Avenue, walking along Royal to 4th Street where she'll turn left and head downhill to Agnes Street. |
| 12:30pm | Douglas College Olympic Games Come out to the concourse and take part in the first-ever Douglas College Olympic Games. Events include a Jello-eating contest, Olympic trivia and a "dressing for the Olympics" relay. Lots of prizes! |
| 1:30pm | Official torch bearer reception Congratulate Douglas torch bearer Anna Solnickova on her achievement, hear her amazing story and enjoy some free refreshments (in the main cafeteria). |

Olympic Movie Features
The Centre for Campus Life is showing an Olympic-related movie every day Monday-Thursday. Showtimes are from 11am-2pm in both the main cafeteria at the New Westminster Campus and the atrium at the David Lam Campus.
