A business career can take you down many roads, into many different industries. Work Futures can provide you an idea of some possible business careers.

Financial Officers, Managers in retail, tourism and hospitality and Senior Managers were identified as High Opportunity Occupations in BC by a Human Resources Development Canada report. Now is a good time to start preparing for a management career, because the Baby Boomers will be retiring over the next 10 years.

Douglas College's Business Management Program can help you prepare you for many business careers including:

  • Sales Representative
  • Customer Service
  • Retail Buying
  • Financial Analyst
  • Accounting
  • Human Resources Management
  • Import and Export
  • Transportation
  • Real Estate
  • Management
  • Operations
  • Office Systems

Some of these careers may require further education. Completing a university degree is an excellent strategy to enhance your career options.

Joining a professional organization and/or attending networking events are great tactics to forge the connections to land your first business job.

The most important step in launching a Business career is hands-on work experience. At Douglas College, you can earn while you learn. Business Management students are encouraged to complete at least one Co-operative Education work term to gain work experience.
