Child and Youth Care Diploma
Program Details
The Child and Youth Care (CYCC) Diploma Program is a comprehensive two-year program that prepares you to work with at-risk children, youth and their families from a strengths-based child and youth care perspective. We'll show you how to make a difference in the life of a child or adolescent who may have suffered abuse, neglect, addiction, family breakdown or who may have behavioural or learning difficulties. You can also choose to include a specialization in Working with the First Peoples of this Land through the CFCS Aboriginal Stream as part of your diploma.
Courses
The CYCC Diploma program can be taken as a full-time two-year program, or as a part-time program that will take approximately four years to complete.
Courses will cover everything from Lifespan Development to Counselling Children and Youth. You'll also have the opportunity to put your theory into practice through the two practicums that are required throughout the Program. For detailed course descriptions, see the College Calendar.
Some courses in the CYCC program may be challenged for credit through the Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) Service. If you have knowledge or skills that relate to this field, contact the PLAR office for more information.
