Get a rewarding and challenging career enhancing the education and well-being of children or adults with disabilities. There are three study options within this laddered program: Classroom and Community Support Diploma or Certificate, Behavioural Interventionist Citation (Autism Specialty) and Disability and Applied Behavioural Analysis Advanced Citation.

Ways to study

Classroom and Community Support Diploma or Certificate: this 60-credit diploma or 45-credit certificate will give you the knowledge and skills you need to work as a Special Education Assistant or support individuals with a developmental disability in the community as a Community Support Worker or Employment Support Worker. Diploma students can also choose a Behavioural Interventionist (autism) specialty within their credential.

Behavioral Interventionist Citation (Autism Specialty): this 18-credit citation will prepare you to work one-on-one with young children with autism in a variety of settings.

Disability and Applied Behavioral Analysis Advanced Citation: if you already have a degree or diploma and want to get the specialized skills you need to become a BACB® certified Assistant Behaviour Consultant, or if you are a teacher looking for TQS approved courses to increase your special needs knowledge and skills, choose this 15-credit advanced citation.

Start dates

All three program options start in September of each year. Part-time students in the Classroom and Community Support Diploma or Certificate program can start in September or January.

Costs

Costs will vary depending on which program option you choose:

  • Classroom and Community Support Diploma - 60 credits: approx $5,000
  • Classroom and Community Support Certificate - 45 credits: approx $3,750
  • Behavioural Interventionist Citation - 18 credits: approx $1,500
  • Disability and Applied Behaviour Analysis Advanced Citation - 15 credits: approx $1,275

Location

All classes within the CCS program study options take place at the New Westminster campus.
Workplace learning placements take place at various locations around Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
