Communications
Communications, in all its varied forms, is a key workplace skill. Curriculum
The Department of Communications at Douglas College will provide you with a foundation in workplace communications: written, spoken, interpersonal and intercultural. Courses offer learning activities that include peer feedback exercises and collaborative assignments, writing tasks, oral presentations, research and interviews.
Ways to study
Communications Certificate
Earn a Certificate in Communications in just one year (with full-time study). This 30-credit communications program will give you the solid foundation you need to get started on your career or educational path. Want to further your Communications studies? Upon completion of the certificate, you can transfer into the Associate of Arts Degree (Communications) program at Douglas or on to university. Learn more about the Communications Certificate
Associate of Arts Degree (Communications)
Earn your Associate of Arts Degree with a specialty in Communications in two years (with full-time study). You’ll complete a core set of communications courses, plus other arts courses, to prepare you for a variety of workplace roles – as well as transfer to many universities in Canada and elsewhere. University Transfer
Douglas offers seven communications courses that transfer directly into Simon Fraser University’s School of Communications. Other Communications courses transfer into the University of British Columbia, Kwantlen University and the University of the Fraser Valley. You’ll get all the benefits of attending college – lower tuition, smaller classes - plus the knowledge that you’ll get full credit for your courses when you transfer to university.
