George, Philip M. |
Philip George practised law in Vancouver for several years before receiving his Ph.D. in Renaissance Literature. Philip has led business communications workshops throughout British Columbia for private and public sector clients. With his first-hand perspective on the communication requirements of the workplace, he emphasizes the decision-making processes that writers use to achieve their writing goals. |

Haye, Tanya |

Jones, Sean |
Sean Jones teaches practical writing courses and Communications Theory with the Communications Department. His main interests are rhetoric and the influence the media has in our daily lives. During his studies he focused on 20th century literature, rhetoric, philosophy and critical theory. Sean occasionally teaches literature and composition courses with Douglas College's English Department and Communication Courses with BCIT. Before becoming an instructor, Sean worked as a Communications Officer with the BC Government and then as an editor. Sean also has extensive experience teaching ESL students. |

Langley, Lin |
Lin Langley has 20 years' experience teaching interpersonal communications to a broad diversity of people in both the public and private sectors. For the past 10 years, she has taught Communications and Print Futures courses at Douglas College. Her recent work has focused on intercultural communication and conflict resolution skills. In her role as an instructor, Lin strives to equip students with the "hidden skills" of the workplace: one-to-one, teamwork, and leadership "people" skills. She employs a discussion-based teaching model that involves active student participation. |

Sangha, Kate |
After over a decade of teaching and learning at Douglas college, Kate Sangha is pleased to report a high level of success achieved by the committed students among the almost 3,000 who have enrolled in her classes, including technical writing students at BCIT. Kate's message to students: "I consider it a great privilege and a serious obligation to empower you through your studies: my classes are designed to prepare you for success in the workplace by helping you to acquire essential knowledge about written communication and to develop your practical writing skills to levels required by employers. I teach POWER writing -- a proven, step-by-step method that can assist you to overcome barriers to writing you may have experienced in the past." Kate's additional professional work experience includes editing, management, and marketing in the book and newspaper publishing industry in California and Alberta, including working on the Canadian Encyclopedia. |

Tobe, Heather |
Heather Tobe has taught in higher education in Canada for over 20 years. She has also worked as an ESL instructor domestically and overseas. Her experience includes teacher education at SFU. She has travelled and worked in a variety of international settings. Heather has an MA in Intercultural Relations from Antioch University, a Professional Teaching Certificate (BC College of Teachers), a certificate in Conflict Resolution in the Workplace (Justice Institute) and a BGS (Education, Linguistics, Psychology) from SFU. At Douglas College, her research area is international education and she teaches intercultural, interpersonal and speech communication courses. Her teaching style is very interactive and student-centered. |

Wegner, Diana |
Diana Wegner teaches professional and practical writing for students in career programs, and for writing specialists in the Print Futures Professional Writing Program. Having completed a Master's degree in literary studies, and then a Ph.D. in writing and rhetoric in 1993, she has been teaching at Douglas for over 20 years. Her students learn a "project" approach to writing: working together with their classmates, they study and practise persuasive writing, research material for reports, and practise expert strategies for drafting and revising. To maintain currency in her teaching, Diana pursues an interest in doing research in professional writing and she does consulting work in the community. |
