Bachelor of Community Rehabilitation Degree
Program details
This innovative and highly-regarded university degree program provides an interdisciplinary and flexible approach to learning. The courses reflect local issues which are relevant to a broad range of health and human service professions including community development and supports, early intervention specialization, vocational rehabilitation, seniors' resource management and policy research analysis. It is also a stepping-stone to graduate programs such as Occupational Therapy and Education. Students take courses from a variety of areas, such as community rehabilitation, disability studies, health, management and social sciences.
An innovative addition to the relationship between UCalgary and Douglas College is the collaborative Autism Concentration, which adds courses from the Douglas College Disability and Applied Behaviour Analysis (DABA) Advanced Citation to the degree. Please see the Douglas College calendar for more information regarding this specialty.
Program entry
If you're a graduate of a Douglas College Child, Family and Community Studies diploma program, or other approved Canadian diplomas such as Capilano University's Rehab Therapy Assistant, Langara's Social Service Worker, Mount Royal College Social Work, Red River College ECE Humber and Mohawk College OTA/PTA etc., you can receive two years of credit towards this degree and enter at the third-year level. See the BCR Block Transfer document (pdf) for more info.
If you do not have a credential, but have at least two years' work experience in the human services field, you should contact the Faculty of Child, Family and Community Studies to inquire about prior learning assessment and recognition (PLAR).
How it works
