Practicums are the core of the Community Social Service Work program. Each session lets you apply your classroom learning in the field. You also develop a practical model for your professional practice. Successful completion of 3 practicum courses over 2 years is required for the CSSW diploma.

How long are practicums?
Practicums in Semester 2 and 3: 2 days per week for 12 weeks
Practicum in Semester 4: 3-4 days per week for 6-8 weeks
While on practicum, you also attend classes and seminar groups at the College throughout the week.

Where do I take my practicum?
Our practicum sites are located all over the Lower Mainland - from the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver to Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, Langley, Surrey and New Westminister. Placements are selected based on your interests and learning needs, subject to available sites.
