CSIS Graduate Profile

Graduates of the CSIS program will be trained to:

  • Create business applications, using different programming languages such as Visual Basic, C, C++, Java, SQL and the HTML markup language.
  • Maintain a computer network by using specific system commands on a Novell Network or MS Windows NT network.
  • Design information systems, using appropriate development tools.
  • Use project management software, such as MS Project, to manage systems projects.
  • Read, understand, and use written IT materials in a business environment.
  • Locate and assess information from Internet and other sources.
  • Communicate effectively with I.T. and non-technical professionals and clients, both orally and in writing.
  • Explain technical materials to non-technical people.
  • Use terminology appropriate to the listener.
  • Make oral presentations with confidence
  • Write technical responses, memos, letters, reports and proposals.
  • Use word processing, presentation, and other software as tools to enhance communication.
  • Solve business problems and make decisions, both individually and as a member of a team.
  • Apply creative problem-solving to the decision-making process.
  • Apply mathematics, logical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Apply appropriate software tools, such as database management, spreadsheet or graphics programs to solve problems.
  • Manage time and resources to meet goals.
