Seanna Quressette, CFCS, recipient of the 2011 BC Career Development Award of Excellence
The BC Career Development Association (BCCDA) acknowledges and celebrates excellence and leadership in career development with an annual Award of Excellence. Each year, three nominees (individuals and teams) are selected for the honour. Criteria for the nomination include demonstration of inspirational leadership and excellence in career development.
Seanna Quressette, MEd, CCDP, Child, Family & Community Studies (CFCS) contract faculty and CE instructor, was the recipient of the 2011 BC Career Development Practitioner of the Year Award. Seanna was recognized by the BCCDA during their annual Awards Ceremony at the CDC conference in Vancouver on March 8, 2011. Her commitment to teaching and learning was evident in that all of the CDP Intensive students and several past graduates volunteered at the CDC and were present at the Awards Ceremony. Jan Carrie, Dean, CFCS commented “what great news to hear that Seanna was selected for this award and it further recognizes the contribution of Douglas College and the Faculty of Child, Family & Community Studies.”
Seanna’s nomination was supported by testimony about her commitment and passion as a career development practitioner, including her tireless efforts to take certification courses ‘on the road’ around the province. Students and colleagues commented on Seanna’s ability to encourage the use of technology “to bring us into the 21st Century” of teaching and learning. In addition to Seanna’s teaching schedule and program development she maintains a private career counselling practice, Creating Intentional Change Inc. Once again, she is participating in the ride to conquer cancer from Vancouver to Seattle. Congratulations Seanna – an Award well deserved.
This is the second time CFCS has been recognized by BCCDA. In 2007. The CDP instructors received the Team Excellence Award.
