Douglas College CDP Program and Creating Intentional Change Inc. are bringing Ethics and Theories courses to your community. To become a Certified Career Development Practitioner (CCDP) you will need two required courses: Ethics (10 hrs) and Career Development Theories (20 hrs). Both courses are BC CDA pre-approved for Certification.

Pre-approval not required for the Douglas College Certification Courses.

Course Descriptions

Career Development Theories (20hrs)
This course is designed to give practitioners a foundation in career development theories and practice. Topics include the examination of the history of career development and career development theories and models and strategies. Aligned to the Canadian Standards and Guidelines (CSG), the focus is on practical application in everyday practice. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss and apply problem solving approaches in class with the use of case studies, group presentations and strategies to facilitate the development of individualized actions plans.

Career Development Theories consists of classroom and online learning, and graded assignments. This course meets the educational requirement for BC Career Development Practitioner Certification (CCDP).

Ethics for Career Development Practitioners (10 hours)
This course provides practitioners with both an overview of the Canadian Standards and Guidelines (CSG) Code of Ethics, and the opportunity to apply the Ethical Decision Making process to Case studies. Gain an understanding of and practical experience in how, when and why to apply the CSG Code of Ethics. Ethics for Career Development Practitioners consists of classroom and online learning, and graded assignments. This ethics course meets the educational requirement for BC Career Development Practitioner Certification (CCDP).

Career Development Case Management

This course is designed to teach students the career development case management process from intake to file closure. The unique needs of different clients groups, in terms of information and service delivery, will be examined.  The role barriers  play in both the client return to work process and to the completion of the case management process will be woven throughout the course.
