Effective leaders are more than just managers; they are visionaries who can articulate their vision, help others to understand it, then provide the resources and set the environment to move toward the vision. Effective leaders are needed in all fields, particularly in social services, education, health, recreation, business, governments and the volunteer sector.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will examine models for effective leadership, integrate theory with community and workplace leadership practice, and learn how to capitalize on diversity, guide work teams and be open and responsive to change.
Entrance Requirements
- Relevant work history (paid and/or volunteer).
- Strong oral and written knowledge of English.
- A written statement describing personal suitability for the program, including your work and volunteer history, why you want to take the program, how will you use the program in the future, and your personal goals.

Credential
This program offers a Douglas College Continuing Education Certificate in Community and Workplace Leadership.
Instructors
All instructors hold Masters or Doctorates and have leadership experience.
CWL Transferability
The following transfer opportunities for this program are currently available:
- 6 credits Social Services Diploma at UCFV;
- 9 credits Bachelor of Adult Education degree at UCFV;
- credits to Douglas College Child & Youth Care Program
