Courses Now Available in Coquitlam!
In addition to the New Westminster campus, the Community Music School now offers a selection of private lessons at the David Lam Campus (DLC) in Coquitlam. Please phone the CMS office at 604-527-5469 for more details.
Faculty
The Douglas College Community Music School is made up of highly qualified, experienced teachers, who are carefully selected and regularly evaluated. Many of our instructors teach in Douglas College's University Transfer Bachelor of Music Program and all are active performers.
Facilities
The College has well-equipped teaching studios, classrooms, rehearsal rooms, practice studios, a piano lab, a MIDI electronic music studio and recording equipment. Classes are held at either the New Westminster (NWC), the David Lam Campus (DLC) or the Surrey Training Centre (STC) as indicated beside course descriptions. The College Library offers music books, scores, a CD collection, audio and videotapes, as well as computer-assisted learning for ear and rhythm training. Concerts are held in a 350-seat theatre.
Comprehensive Program
The Douglas College Community Music School offers private lessons, group lessons, theory, history, ensembles and audio engineering. We offer instruction for all ages, from newborns through to seniors, at beginner through professional levels. Our students enrolled in private lessons and group classes work toward meeting requirements for college or university entrance, as well as preparing for exams, festivals or competitions, developing career skills or for personal enjoyment.
