Coaching
Our mission is to improve the quality of leadership in sport in British Columbia and help all those involved to "Be The Best They Can Be!"
With the 2010 Olympics in the discussions of most people in the forefront of sport in BC, we must not lose sight of where these Olympic athletes come from. I don't mean the Lower Mainland, Kootenays, etc., but the grassroots programs offered in nearly all our communities around the province.
Some of these communities have limited financial resources, limited facilities, and factors which limit sport participation such as weather conditions, location, travel time, etc., which severely limit athletes "being the best" they can be. But one thing all these communities have is PEOPLE.
The Sports Institute is committed to people - officials, coaches, players, parents, volunteers, professionals and spectators. The institute was developed to assist people at the grassroots level to make sport a "neat place to be."
We provide training, workshops, seminars and community outreach programs to bring the latest research and knowledge to this important aspect of community life - children, sport and recreation.
For more information please call 604-527-5492 or 604-527-5041 or visit our web site at douglascollege.ca/ce/sport. Sports Institute courses are tax deductible.
Meet some of our excellent instructors with the Sports Institute: "The Sports Institute has some EXCELLENT INSTRUCTORS and I look forward to taking more courses through them."
Many of our instructors are provincially and nationally recognized and come with excellent academic backgrounds. All of them put the student first, making Douglas College an excellent place to further your coaching certification.
