Probation Officers
Probation officers work with either adult or young offenders in the community. Some general duties of probation officer may include:
- Assisting in sentencing process by providing information which will help the court determine dispositions for offenders
- Monitoring probationer's compliance with the terms of probation
- Enforcing court orders
- Assisting offenders by providing information and arranging counselling or other forms of help through community agencies
- Increasing public awareness of strategies to prevent crime and victimization
