Victim Services Workers

In general, victim services personnel work with the police and the courts to assist and provide support to victims of crime. Some duties performed by Victim Services Workers are:

  • Providing information and assistance to victims of crime
  • Assisting victims, witnesses and family members with referrals to appropriate agencies
  • Providing court accompaniment and preparation
  • Providing liaison with Crown Counsel
  • Assisting with Victim Impact Statements and Criminal Injury Compensation Claims
  • Providing emotional support to victims of crime
The RCMP qualifications for victim services workers are as follows:
  • 21 years or older
  • RCMP security clearance completion
  • Drivers license in good standing
  • Interest in working with victims of crime
  • Ability to work the minimum hourly requirement
  • Mature and responsible
  • Patient, professional and non-judgmental
