Has worked extensively with mentally disordered offenders in secure hospital custody and mentally disordered offenders living within the community. Interests include legal advocacy for the mentally ill, reintegration of the mentally disordered offender, risk assessment and public safety. Teaching interests include mental health law, mental disorder and criminology theory, and the criminal justice system.

Professional experience includes applied research for the RCMP and Transit Police, and several years as the VPD Planning Advisor.
