Criminology and Legal Studies Scholarships and Bursaries
CRIMINOLOGY AND LEGAL STUDIES SCHOLARSHIPS AND BURSARIES
There are several scholarship and bursary awards available for Criminology and Legal Studies students to apply for. The following are examples of the financial awards and some of the selection criteria information. Please contact the Financial Aid Office (Room 2740 New West and Room A1030 David Lam) for more detailed information on eligibility requirements and deadlines for applications.
1. Brodie Osborne-Campbell Scholarship - awarded to a full time Criminology student each year. Recipients must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and be making the transition from first to second year.
2. Cassady & Company Award - awarded to a Legal Studies Diploma, Legal Assistant Certificate or Citation student. Recipients must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, show evidence of financial need, and be enrolled in the Legal Studies Diploma or the Legal Assistant Certificate or Citation Programs.
3. Jack Ferguson Memorial Scholarship - preference is given to a Criminology student. Recipients must have a GPA of 3.5 or over, preference will be given to students who have demonstrated community service work, and submit a brief statement outlining career goals.
4. The Law Foundation of BC Legal Studies Award - awarded to a Legal Studies Diploma Program student. Recipients must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, and must be enrolled in the Legal Studies Diploma Program.
5. Peter W. Webster Award - one of the Peter W. Webster Awards is designated to a Criminology Program student who is graduating and entering a degree program at a post-secondary institution. Students should have evidence of financial need and a GPA of 3.0 or above. The focus is on all-round abilities and high levels of involvement in college and program activities. This award will be available to the student for 3 years from date of notification.
6. Westminster Community Legal Services Society Bursary - awarded to a student in the Youth Justice Program, Criminology, Community Social Services Worker Program, and/or Child & Youth Counsellor Program. Preference will also be given to a student who is a single parent.
