Careers

"Ultimately what you do in life is sell the time of your life. You can sell it for a high wage or a low wage. What do you want to sell the time of your life for?"

Rod Midgley, Economics Instructor

Economics cuts to the core of decision-making in government, business and your personal life. It's about money, time and resources. In business, economists provide answers to the questions: "What can you do with what you have?" and "What will you do?"

Economics graduates typically work in business, academia or government, but economics courses are excellent grounding for a variety of business and policy analyst careers.

BC Work Futures projects faster than average employment growth for Economic Development Officers and salary prospects for Economic Policy Researchers and Analysts are much higher than the BC average. For more information about a career as an economist, check out Work Futures.

These careers may require further education. Completing a University degree is an excellent strategy to enhance your career options. Earning a Master's and PhD can significantly boost your career as an economist.
