University Transfer
If you are interested in pursuing economics or business at university, you may want to complete one of our distinct university-transferable diploma options. These are the only two programs at Douglas specifically designed to meet the lower-level (1st and 2nd year) requirements for Bachelor's Degrees in Commerce, Business Administration or Economics at BC universities:
Commerce & Business Administration University Transfer Diploma
This two-year diploma program is Douglas' most popular business diploma. It consists of business, accounting, economics and other university-transferable courses that provide a solid understanding of the fundamental principles of business and economics.
This diploma is designed to transfer directly into the third year of the following programs:
- Simon Fraser University's Bachelor of Business Administration Program
- University of Victoria's Bachelor of Commerce
- University of Lethbridge (Post Diploma Bachelor of Management)
- Royal Roads University's Bachelor of Commerce
- Athabasca University's Bachelor of Commerce
For more details on the Commerce & Business Administration University Transfer Diploma, see the College Calendar.
Associate of Arts Degree (Specialty in Economics)
This two-year diploma program has a specific focus on economics, but includes a variety of business, humanities and social science courses.
The Associate of Arts (Specialty in Economics) Degree is designed to satisfy the first two years of study for the Bachelor of Arts (Economics) at Simon Fraser University. This program of study offers some transfer credit to other universities. See the College Calendar for more details.
Some institutions accept Associate Degree graduates with lower GPAs than other applicants, helping you meet rising university-entrance requirements. In addition, all major BC universities (including SFU and UBC) guarantee a full transfer of all 60 credits for work in your Associate Degree.

All Douglas College Economics courses transfer to BC's major universities. Certain conditions apply to transfer to university - contact the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration or check the BC Transfer Guide to find out more.

Students say
"When I first came to Douglas College I didn't know economics as a field existed really. I was interested in becoming a businessman whatever that really meant. In the instruction here I learned more about business in general and about economics as a field and became very interested in that. Now I'm pursuing my business degree at SFU." - Trevor Tombe, former Douglas College student.
