Contract
| Douglas College will not be offering the Explore program in 2012. |
You must print, read carefully, sign, and return the French version of this contract to the College before the program. Below are only the general conditions. The French version is the final version of the contract.
1. The goal of the program is to provide you with the best conditions possible to acquire a second language: a total linguistic and cultural immersion. However, you will need to put in your own effort, as well, to be successful.
2. Attendance at all classes and required activities is mandatory.
3. English will be the only language used at all times. If a student insists on speaking their native language, they will be required to leave the program.
4. A certificate will only be awarded if you have attended all of the classes and respected the conditions of the contract.
5. If you leave the program without a valid reason, you may be refused a bursary in the future.
6. You must live with a homestay family, chosen by the program, for the duration of the program. The CMEC rules require that each night spent away from the homestay family's home must be approved by the coordinator.
7. Alcohol and drugs are not allowed on campus. To purchase, possess, or drink alcohol in a public establishment in British Columbia, you must be at least 19 years old and will require 2 pieces of identification.

8. You are responsible for any loss or damage caused to the property of the college or to the property of your host family.
9. It is your responsibility to provide for your financial needs.
10. You are required to pay a $250.00 deposit to Douglas College. One hundred dollars of this deposit will be returned to you, at the end of the course, if you have respected the conditions of the contract and you have successfully completed the entire course.
Note: Immersion programs are very demanding on the participants and do not suit everyone. In order to fully benefit from the program, a student must accept that these five weeks will demand a huge commitment of time, energy, and total participation. This is not a holiday in British Columbia. On the other hand, students who give 100% will be very satisfied with their experience. Be sure of your commitment to participate in this program before coming to Douglas College.
