The Douglas College English Department sponsors various literary events and readings throughout the year, often in collaboration with the Creative Writing department.

Literature Alive

Throughout the year, the Literature Alive committee at Douglas College presents readings by a variety of Canadian writers. These readings are co-sponsored by the Canada Council for the Arts and are free and open to the public.

Event Magazine

Douglas College is home to Event, one of Canada's top literary magazines. Founded in 1971, the magazine features imaginative writing by established writers and new literary voices from across Canada and around the world. Douglas College Creative Writing students may have the opportunity to enhance their educational experience with hands-on participation in the publication of Event.
