Spanish

Winter 2012

Learn about the Spanish-speaking world through film, music, literature, photography and more!

MODL 1153 - Introduction to the Cultures of the Spanish-Speaking world (3 credits)

TAUGHT IN ENGLISH

Spanish is spoken by over 400 million people as their native tongue, making it the third-most spoken language around the world. At Douglas College, you can explore the language, literature, music, and cultures of Spanish-speaking countries, whether as part of your general education, in preparation for further education, travel, or for a professional career.

If you have little or no knowledge of the Spanish language, you'll develop basic communicative skills and practice your conversational Spanish in class and in the lab. If you already have some background in Spanish, you can build your confidence by further developing your reading and writing skills and deepening your knowledge of the culture.

For a complete list of Spanish courses, check the Douglas College Calendar. You will find the schedule of our current course offerings by clicking here. Select the term and then choose "Languages" from the "Subject" menu.

Assessment

If you have little or no knowledge of Spanish you may register for the Introductory course MODL 1151 without assessment.

If you have some previous knowledge of Spanish, or are from a Spanish-speaking background, you should contact the instructor prior to registration to determine the appropriate level:
