Spanish

Spanish is spoken by over 400 million people as their native tongue, making it the third-most spoken language around the world. At Douglas College, you can explore the language, literature, music, and cultures of Spanish-speaking countries, whether as part of your general education, in preparation for further education, travel, or for a professional career.

If you have little or no knowledge of the Spanish language, you'll develop basic communicative skills and practice your conversational Spanish in class and in the lab. If you already have some background in Spanish, you can build your confidence by further developing your reading and writing skills and deepening your knowledge of the culture.

For a complete list of Spanish courses, check the Douglas College Calendar.

Assessment

If you have little or no knowledge of Spanish you may register for the Introductory course MODL 1151 without assessment.

If you have some previous knowledge of Spanish, or are from a Spanish-speaking background, you are required to contact the instructor prior to registration for an assessment. Students without assessment at the time of registration will be deregistered.
