Basic Musicianship

Student with piano

If you have little or no formal musical training, but want to increase your musical skills or prepare for entrance into the University Transfer program, the one-year Basic Musicianship program can get you started.

This program is designed to meet the needs of those with an interest in music but little or no experience, or those who wish to pursue a university degree in music but require reparatory work.

Upon completion of all requirements in this program, you will receive a Basic Musicianship Certificate.

Applying:

  • Applications are accepted until June 1 for the September start date. But spots are limited and entrance scholarship applications are only accepted until May 5th. So apply early!
  • Make sure you have met all of Douglas College’s general admission requirements.
  • There is no audition or music theory entrance test for admission to the Basic Musicianship Program. However, students must arrange for an in-person or telephone interview with the Music Coordinator. Please phone 604-527-5694.

For more detailed information and admission requirements for the Basic Musicianship program, see the Douglas College Calendar or the Music Student Handbook.
