Brenda Fedoruk

brenda-fedorukBrenda Fedoruk, head of Woodwinds in the Douglas College Music Department, is active both as a teacher and as a performer. In addition to her position with Douglas College, she is a faculty member at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver Community College, Capilano University and the Vancouver Academy of Music. Brenda also keeps a private teaching studio in North Vancouver. In her instruction she "stresses all aspects of musical development, sound production, breath control and finger technique."

Also busy on the stage, Brenda Fedoruk is currently Principal Flute of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra, a position she has held for more than 15 years. For over 10 years, Brenda has been the conductor and Music Director of the Capilano Flute Choir. She is also a sought-after freelance performer. Brenda frequently plays with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and has taken the stage with the touring orchestras of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and the National Ballet. She has also performed in many major musical productions in Vancouver, including Les Miserables, Showboat and The Phantom of the Opera. Brenda Fedoruk's first solo CD, I Remember, is now available.

Brenda holds a Bachelor of Music degree from UBC. Her musical studies have taken her all over the world, including experiences in Zurich, Salzburg and New York City.
