Scholarships and Awards of Distinction

Entrance Awards of Distinction

Each year several entrance scholarships are available to incoming University Transfer (UT) music students. Thanks to generous bequests from various donors we are able to offer aid to incoming music students each year, including:

• Douglas College Award of Distinction
• Meiji University Mandolin OB Music Club Award of Distinction (for a guitar student)
• Hugh Livingston Maze Music Award of Distinction
• Performance-Based Scholarship (full tuition for two years)

To be considered for these awards and scholarships, students must:

• Audition during the earliest audition period (late April) and achieve a high performance standard.
• Meet the academic entrance requirements for the College.
• Meet the entrance requirements for the UT music program.
• Complete an application form.

Students transferring from the Basic Musicianship program to the UT program are also considered for entrance scholarships and should submit an application form.

Awards of Distinction for Current Students

A number of scholarships are also available to students continuing in the University Transfer Program.

• Laura Chestnut Memorial Scholarship (Theory/History)
• Dr. G. Herald Keefer Music Award of Distinction (Organ) Meiji O.B. Scholarship (Guitar)
• David Peterkin Memorial Music Award of Distinction (Basic Musicianship)
• Walter G. Robertson Memorial Music Award of Distinction (General)
• Silverman Music Award of Distinction (Performance)
• Henry Waack Music Award of Distinction (General)
• Len Whiteley Memorial Music Award of Distinction (Band)

• Rotary Womens Association Music Award of Distinction

These awards and scholarships are available to returning students who have achieved a record of excellence in performance, academic work or both, and must be used for second year studies at Douglas College. No application is required.
